La popolazione cellulare della lamina propria \u00e8 molto varia. Comprende, per esempio, fibroblasti, linfociti, plasmacellule, macrofagi, leucociti eosinofili e mastociti. Questi tipi cellulari forniscono all&#8217;epitelio supporto e nutrizione, oltre che i mezzi di ancoraggio al tessuto sottostante.<\/p>\n<p>Nei casi di atrofia vaginale, l&#8217;acqua \u00e8 meno presente nell&#8217;epitelio asciutto della parete vaginale ed \u00e8 pi\u00f9 presente nel tessuto connettivo sottostante. Pertanto, l&#8217;epitelio vaginale vero e proprio subisce un danno minimo, mentre lo strato subepiteliale assorbe una maggiore quota di energia termica.<\/p>\n<p>Infatti, in campioni istologici prelevati da pazienti trattati per alcune settimane con un laser vaginale <em>CO<sub>2<\/sub><\/em> frazionato si sono evidenziati rigenerazione della mucosa e della sottomucosa vaginale, maggiore quantit\u00e0 di collagene ed elastina, aumentata perfusione microvascolare, ispessimento di mucosa e sottomucosa, e ripristino delle riserve di glicogeno. \u00c8 stato dimostrato che a seguito del trattamento con laser <em>CO<sub>2<\/sub><\/em>, l&#8217;attivit\u00e0 dei fibroblasti aumenta. Ci\u00f2 coinvolge la produzione di nuovi componenti molecolari della matrice del tessuto connettivo, il ripristino della perfusione vascolare, e l&#8217;aumento dell&#8217;attivit\u00e0 delle cellule epiteliali, con maggiore sintesi, accumulo e rilascio di glicogeno.<\/p>\n<p>Rinnovamento dei componenti della sostanza fondamentale vuol dire nuova sintesi e rilascio di glicosaminoglicani, glicoproteine, e glicoproteine multiadesive. Queste molecole sono in grado di legare grandi quantit\u00e0 d&#8217;acqua. Ci\u00f2 comporta un significativo aumento dell&#8217;idratazione tissutale e il conseguente aumento della permeabilit\u00e0 ai nutrienti, che possono perci\u00f2 spostarsi dai vasi ai tessuti.<\/p>\n<h6><em>-S.
